Balan Dance……Identifying people of rural villages between “The Mountain of Landslide”

In Nepal there are so many native cultural customs. People are still following the trends of celebrating festivals and customs. Out of more than 100 casts of Nepal, Bramhin is one of the casts which covers about 12% of the total population and is closely related to Chhetris who cover highest 16% of total population. Bramhins have some native cultures. Among them “Balan Dance” is one which is about to disappear from the country and obviously from the world since it is not organised in any part of the world.
Balan Dance is found very rare in rural villages even today but the people have lost almost all the ways and traditions about this dance. They have some scripts of those native songs and still some old people remember how to dance. We haven’t heard about the origin and history of this dance but according to people, it was famous in mid 18th to 19th century. The language used in the script is old Nepali language, so we can guess that it must be old. In this dance there are few phases and styles. This is the series of dances and songs in other words.
In Jhyanglanga village of Kalikasthan, Rasuwa, Nepal, few years before villagers organised a festival in which they used to visit a house every night for about 3 hours to conduct dance and some other traditional process. They did it for a month and finished it formally. They had organised this type of festival 30 years before.
